Ever since his baptism in the equator as a little boy, he has been up to all kinds of things. He likes to sit on the shore, let his eyes wander into the distance and stones flip across the water, and dreams himself to the Amazon to the piranhas and anacondas, which he watches from a safe distance from his hammock. His observations culminate in wild improvisations.
Piano, accordion, vocals, tape at Miss Hope goes fishing:
She walks along the river, contemplating, marvelling and elated. The fishing rod shouldered, a song on her lips, the glitter of the water reminds her of the sea…and there she dreams herself away, to the wild ocean, to fly with the fish, to get to the bottom of things and to study the song of the whales.
Singing, synthesizer, percussion, piano and flute at Miss Hope goes fishing:
In Valparaiso he got into his little boat with the red sail. He sailed around Cape Horn, braving wild storms on his way to Europe. He used the weeks on the open sea to carve his first instrument out of driftwood, which he has used ever since to capture the sounds of the sea, the seagulls and the wind. He dreams of swimming through the Pacific with shoals of colourful fish.
Cello at Miss Hope goes fishing:
Miss Hope goes fishing was born in the lockdown, when all dates were cancelled and we all stayed at home. Silence and time were the powerful ingredients that gave birth to new songs and lyrics. Like a phoenix from the ashes, we – Claudia Giese (voc) and Thomas Krizsan (p) – rose from the crisis on creative wings and breathed life into Miss Hope.Fräulein Hoffnung has accompanied us ever since and gives us courage to tell our stories and to clothe them in poetic songs.Very soon we wished for the sound of the cello and were able to win over a fantastic colleague in Arturo Figueroa.
